Gone Girl (2014)

O Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) και η Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) ήταν το ‘τέλειο ζευγάρι’ μέχρι που η ανεργία  χτύπησε την πόρτα τους. Μεταμορφώθηκαν σε αυτό που απεχθανόντουσαν. Εκείνος την απάτησε και αυτή τον εκδικήθηκε. Ή μήπως όχι;

Boy-meets-girl. Boy-cheats-girl. Girl gets revenge, or doesn’t she? This is a story of a marriage gone wrong. They were the ‘perfect couple’ until recession was added and two jobs were subtracted. The boy, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), seeked support outside his marriage and the girl, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), seeked punishment for his infidelity.

David Fincher managed to extract great performances from his actors. Ben Affleck shows a greater-than-usual range of facial expressions. But it is Rosamund Pike who ‘steals the show’! You totally believe she is psychotic! What was missing though, was the climax of the built-up thrill (almost there, but not quite) and the catharsis.

Starring: Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck

Written by: Gillian Flynn (based on her novel)

Directed by: David Fincher

    • Haven’t read the book yet. Usually, when there was a new “book-turned-to-a-movie” film released, I opted to have read the book first, but great disappointment was in store for me! This time I watched the movie first. It was so good -most likely worse than the book! Don’t know, you tell me which one you liked best!- that made me wanna buy the book and take the time, which only books provide you with, to actually delve in the story in full detail and reflect on Amy’s thoughts on her journal like you did on your post!
